Operation Total Rebrand

Case Study

Faith’s Café, Suburbs of Northern Virginia

Friday, 8:50 a.m.

As I walk through the front door a million thoughts rush through my head. What if something goes wrong, what if she was lying? What if this mission fails like all the others? I fight back the negative thoughts and push forward. The smell of fresh ground coffee permeates every nerve in my nostrils, working its way up to my head. Perhaps this meeting will be different.

When I first started on this mission, I had no real grasp of the challenges ahead. The casualty rate for those without proper support is quite high. I take a furtive glance around the room to see if I can spot my target. This has to be a deception operation like all the others. She can’t do what she has promised. No worries, my experience with these people will allow me to expose this double agent immediately.

As I take a seat and place a pen and paper on the table, I see her walking in. Right on time at 9:00 a.m. I recognize her from the photo from the website. So far so good. My heart begins to pound as I feel the sweat rolling down my neck. I can’t do this, I can’t. I gather my stuff to escape but it’s too late.

“Hi are you Rachel Hadinoff?”

“Yes.”

“I’m Dara Iserson, it’s a pleasure to meet you!” she said with a big genuine smile on her face. This had to be a ruse.

“Please sit down, we can get started right away.”

I sat back down wondering skeptically whether the price she quoted was worth it. As she began to talk, a new sensation passed through my body. Every single tense muscle in my legs, back and shoulders began to relax. I found myself trusting her more and more with each passing second.

“I do things a little differently than all the others in this field. Resumes are my passion. Think of me as novelist crafting a story, your story.”

“What differentiates you from other career resume services?” I asked.

“For starters, we’ll sit here between four to six hours until we create the perfect resume tailored for you. I will teach you how to analyze a job description so you can assess any organization seeking candidates to see if it’s the right fit for you”

Dara said with a caring smile and a relaxed face. I wanted to hear more.

“I will then re-build your resume line by line using the bullet point transformation method. This will show what you actually did for your previous employers and how your work impacted their organization.”

“Why do you do things this way, Dara?”

“For one thing, job-related stress is one of the leading causes of death in America, according to a recent study. For another, you need to think about your own happiness when seeking a job. If people in that office don’t have a sense of humor or the environment is toxic, you don’t want that job no matter how high the salary.”

As I took a moment to consider her words, I sensed the first glimmer of hope since quitting my last job in absolute disgust.

“I will also work with you to leverage LinkedIn to search for and message decision-makers, recruiters and current team members.”

After spending the next six hours working on my resume, stopping only to grab coffee and pastries, we were finally done. I shook Dara’s hand and walked to my car with a small kernel of doubt still stuck in the crevices of my brain. Boy was I wrong.

Within a few days of posting my new Total Rebrand resume, I had numerous recruiters reaching out to me. Now I had the upper hand. I was rejecting recruiters based on the criteria I received from Dara. I had three interviews and a job offer in record time. Total Rebrand changed my life and the resume crafted by Dara Iserson was worth every penny. I am happy to report that Operation Total Rebrand was a complete success!

Sincerely,

Rachel Hadinoff
